Hi everyone and wellcome to my august update.now where to begin? Managed a full two weeks without sustaining an injury, yay!!! Hope to take my black belt second dan next month and then start training to become a personal trainer. Still managing my eight miles a day and back to the gym five days a week for the last two weeks.my body must have found it's natural weight as I have not lost this month but on the upside I havnt put any weight on. I work hard to stick to the way of eating taught to me by Alex during my twelve week plan.physically I feel great however not so good news from my recent oncology appointment, most of you know I underwent major surgery two years ago unfortunately I am starting round two with the big ' c'and have a six month treatment plan ahead. As before I am not going to let this beat me with everything I have learnt in the last twelve months I am going to continue to train hard eat healthily and fight this all the way.starting with a break for me Tina and the boys then it's down to some hard work. With the help of all my family and friends i know i can kick its ass! Plus thanks to those friends and family i am in much better shape second time round to do it Will keep you all updated in September cheers for reading gaz

July update to my 12 week plan
hi everyone here is the latest monthly update to the plan
I am pleased to tell you all that the weight loss is still continuing, not as fast but still on the decrease 4and a 1/2 pounds since the last update, i am very pleased with that as i have already achieved my goal so any thing more is a complete bonus
I no longer think as if i am on a diet to me now its just a complete new eating regime and seem to know instinctively when to eat and how much i no longer need to count calories and check portion sizes etc it all seems to come naturally
Exercise wise i have had a bloody nightmare of a month it seems at the minute i just get over one injury only to get another one and they seem to get worse each time, the good part of it is that no matter what the injury i seem to be able to work around it so that keeps me from going mad and getting frustrated, was hoping to get back to the gym this week but my hamstring is still very tight so will give it another week or so before pushing my luck,
Headed over to Warwick to CV34 to help celebrate the studio's first birthday it was great to catch up with everyone and listen to more great success stories on Alex's famous12 week plan, and let me tell you there have been some fantastic achievements to say the least and the studio walls are filling up fast with before and after pictures of all the great successes
Another thing i have learnt to get on top of is the way i am learning to deal with trials and tribulations had a disturbing time with hospital results last week not going exactly to plan, but already feeling upbeat and going to deal with this positively and not let things get me down, its merely a set back and another hurdle to get over, could do without it but couldn't we all lol cheers Garry
ps
Didn't like not being recognised at the studio, hardly anyone noticed i was there i found i had to introduce myself to nearly everyone before they knew who i was lol i suppose i should have been flattered as it was because i had dropped nearly 2 more stone since they last saw me

june update to the plan
Hello everyone here is the latest update to my plan
As you were aware in last months update i fractured a rib and am pleased to say its on the mend finally, although i have not done any weights or attended the gym in the last month, so as you can imagine its so frustrating for me and had to change my whole routine.
I managed to start training this weekend at the black belt course and done really well considering,
I did sit out for the last half hour or so as i felt a twinge so urged on the side of caution as i wanted to attend masterclass on Sunday, and i can say i managed to finish that without to many problems so well chuffed
With every thing going on i walked 4 miles twice a day and really concentrated on the diet, and can say i still lost 5 pounds in the last month and am well chuffed as this got me past my goal, seems along time coming and in a way a little disappointing, not because I'm unhappy with the loss but because it feels like its all come to an end and what am i going to do with myself now!!
The way ahead for me now is to carry on with my daily routine and am going back to the gym tomorrow, still not ready for heavy weights yet but will get started on the cross trainers and rowers etc
I no longer consider myself on a diet anymore but a new way of life and if the weight still drops it will be because it needs to and i figure it will find its own natural way of doing so.
Have to say i have still a keen interest in all doing the 12 week plans and am very impressed and think there will some fantastic results very soon, so a very well done to you all,
Alex your still doing the business mate keep up the good work and will hopefully get up and have that training session with you shortly all being well.
Thanks for reading and leave a comment if you can thanks Gaz

Monthly update 9th May 2011
Hi All
A month has passed since my last update so thought i would fill you in on the months events. Usual ups and downs, my weight is still coming off nicely, on average 2 pounds per week. I still manage to get to the gym on average 6 times a week and enjoy my 4 mile power walk every morning.
Still struggling with my arm and managed to sustain a fracture to my ribcage this weekend during Geoff Thompson's class on Saturday. Anyone who has ever had this type of injury will know how painful it is. I had to sit out of Master Class on Sunday and just sit and listen which was very frustrating as i like to get stuck in. Unfortunately i was hardly a able to breathe let alone anything else on Sunday.
I am not looking forward to the next few weeks, going to find it difficult to train, i manage a 4 mile power walk with Tina today even though it was slower than usual so i will have to concentrate on that for the next few weeks, might up it to 2 -3 times a day till i can get to the gym.
At the hospital this morning for an ultra sound, had a lump on my shoulder for sometime so eventually went to have it checked out, and wish i hadn't, doctors said it don't look 'good' so have to practice patience and wait to have it removed.
Tina has taken some new photos for you all to look at and she assures me they are a massive change from post 12 week plan, she may however have a hidden agenda as she loves me lol.
Well done to Alex and CV34 yesterday for their fundraising walk up Snowden, and also a huge well done to all CV34 clients and their 12 week plans i am an avid watcher of every ones plans.
Thank you all once again for taking the time to read and please feel free to leave your comments, cheers Gaz.

Latest update on the 12 week plan 4th april 2011
Diary
Hi All, think its been over a month maybe since i last updated my blog, and what a busy few weeks its been. Its had its highs and its lows and i am still battling with my own personal demons and anxieties. Visits to the Oncologist for regular blood tests and dealing with tribunals has taken its toll HOWEVER you will all be glad to hear (especially Alex LOL) i still have the fitness bug, my wife says i am a cross between Gillian Mckeith and Alex Myers. I train seven days a week; six days a week this consists of a 4 mile power walk in the morning followed by 1.5 hr session at my local gym, this varies between CV work, weights and bag work, i have a right little routine set up. Then one day a week i just do my walking as i go over to CV34 on a Sunday morning and do a class with Louis Thompson. Also black belt and master class courses with Geoff Thompson once a month.
My food diary is still regimented i rigidly stick to 2 hourly eating, once a week i have my treat of tandoori chicken, if we go out visiting my wife packs me up with fruit/nuts so that i stick to my routine. I have lost over 1/2 stone in the last 4 weeks and another 1.5 inches from my waist, so still averaging 2lb a week weight loss.
I have thoroughly enjoyed following Louise's 12 week plan and so proud of all she has achieved and continue to follow all of CV34's clients. The 12 week plan has given me a focus which has helped me more than i can ever say, and what i have learnt continues to spur me on to continue with the results already achieved,

It seems Alex and the team are unsurpassed in there training regimes and are getting the very top results from all there clients without exception. (fantastic achievement)
Thanks all for reading and i will keep you updated of my progression in another months time.
regards and hope your all well

What a change for the best in the weather, the sun was well and truly out before 1 set out for my walk, my body was remarkably good considering the exploits of the last few days no nasty aches and pains for a change, never broke any records but did do it in a quickish time and felt good for doing so.
Managed to get up the gym this afternoon and as i hadn't been on the weights the last 2 days so i went for that option and really pushed myself doing all the big ones squats, dead lifts, bench press, and cleans, was hard going and was drenched on completion, no pain no gain as Alex would say lol
As mentioned last week tonight's blog will be the last one, for now anyway i hope to do a monthly one just to keep all of you in the picture regards to weight loss etc, so for now a massive thank you to each and everyone of you all for supporting me as long as you have, you really have no idea how its made feel knowing so many were behind me urging me on with all the comments, And it go's without saying that without Alex, of course none of this would have been possible, so Alex your an absolute star and thank you for all the work and effort you have put in, i will never forget it. Also to my beautiful wife Tina who without i don't think could have done it, she is an absolute rock and has put up with all the stuff that i never put in the blogs and believe me there was plenty of it, love you babe xx
Thank You all and o yes forgot to mention that i lost another 1 lbs and another half inch of my waist yeahhh

What a very busy day today has been! where to start ?
Over to Warwick for the second of six self defence + course, thought at the start i was going to really struggle as just completing the warm up exercises with our mate Alex i was really tired, but very pleased to say the session seemed to get easier as it went along and i don't mean it wasn't physical enough i just seemed to get a second wind and it got me through.
Had a brief hug and a chat with Kate as i was leaving what a fantastic lady she is a complete inspiration if ever i saw one, well done on breaking your 10 stone yes that was 10 stone loss amazing.
Only home for enough time to change clothes and a quick drink pack my bag and out to do it all again.
Back over to Coventry and the AT7 centre for the last and longest of my weekend sessions and again it was fantastic and instead of getting tired and sluggish i seemed to find another gear as was more than ready for the challenge ahead.
Really is a complete pleasure to talk to so many different knowledgeable people every which way you turn there is somebody willing to assist and teach you, fantastic to say the least, nothing is to much trouble and every body seems on the same par even though there is a complete mix of all the arts and different levels of fitness as well as a complete mixture of abilities, any one watching would not know the difference all of us felt equal
A great day, a very tiring day now its over i can sit and reflect
Thanks all Gaz

Up and about for an early start today for the first of 3 sessions this weekend, it was at the A T 7 centre Coventry so not far to travel, for me anyway can you believe one of the students travels over every month from the United Amerate Emirates and would you credit it he was there before the rest of us lol
The first half of the session was drilling some take downs and grips etc very hard and very tiring any body who does any form of grappling will tell you just how physical this can be, the second half after a bit to eat and a drink was more up my street with pad work and punching again very tiring when doing it full on with being counted to punch, must have thrown a few hundred really heavy punches and i wasn't the only i blowing like an old cart horse lol
Another busy day ahead tomorrow starting in Warwick with Louis Thompson's self defence + course then a trip back to the A T 7 centre Cov for a 4 hour plus master class, phew getting tired just writing it lol
Had a chance to get a few things of my mind today with some of the very best inspirational people around so a massive thanks to all of those involved especially peter Skillen a very wise and extremely knowledgeable man.
All in all a very good day thank you all for your time

What a lousy start to the day had to get some blood tests done so decided to get them done as early as possible because i needed them doing on an empty stomach arrived at the hospital at 9.15am to be greeted with an hours delay (great) so i sat there and i sat there and i sat there after 2 hours of my worsening patience i decided to ask and was just fobbed off as usual, any way finally got done another half hour later and never got home till 12 .30pm a complete waste of a morning and i was starving, if it hadn't have been a fasting blood test it wouldn't have been so bad but all around me were eating and drinking (aahhh)
With every thing amiss i only got a 3 mile walk done but did manage a good pace and got a good sweat on
Seems like i had just sat down and it was time for the gym, never felt in the mood to go but managed to force myself, the place was packed out as i was late again so that didn't improve my mood at all, managed a half decent session and i suppose that's got to be better than not getting there at all although at the time it never felt like it, hopefully will be back to normal tomorrow and i have a very hectic weekend ahead of me with a 4 hour session in the morning then another 1&1/2 hours Sunday morning followed by a further 4&1/2 hour session in the afternoon, getting tired just thinking about it lol

Have now got the pictures up to date on the blog, to view them simply click on the gallery button at the top of the first page of the blog and it will take you right to them all the newer ones at at the bottom so just scroll down and bobs your uncle.
Will make this the last week for the blog as its now nearly 4 weeks over, and think everything is now up to date and everyone should have caught up, its been great fun and hope you have enjoyed it as much as me, but such is life every things comes to an end sooner or later

1&1/2 hours at the gym
Diary
Needed to be in Birmingham fairly early so was up and about early, so more difficult on the exercise and the diet but turned out not to bad getting better at planning etc
Still got a 3 mile walk in then later in the afternoon got to the gym.
the gym was surprisingly busy for the time of day and was forced to a change of plans wanted to set up a small circuit but with so many in there this was not really an option so i decided to do a full session on the weights starting with 5 sets of bench press moving on to 5 sets of dead lifts and a further 5 sets of squats all the weights have been increased so still making it as hard as possible finished off with the dumb bells and some shoulder work followed by some flys and arm curls.
home and a soak in the bath was in order am already quite sore so a good soak is just what the doctor ordered.
Hopefully get to the gym earlier tomorrow and avoid the rush so i can try and do some circuits
Thanks all Gaz

Diary
Weather a bit better for walking this morning well not raining anyway, managed to complete the 4 miles though it seemed loads harder today for some reason, maybe cause of the short break from that distance, really was drenched and was a good workout.
Got to the gym this afternoon and after the weights yesterday decided to do a session on just CV work, started of on the tread mill till i was soaked through then braved the dreaded stair master was really dubious about going on this as the last time i tried it through me off as i upped the speed a little to much lol, although at the time i weren't laughing, then done 10 mins on the rowing machine followed by a further 10 on the bike, then warmed down with sit ups crunches ans side crunches + leg raises etc was well and truly shattered after that lot
Home for a well deserved shower and a chillax thanks all once again for your constant support its well appreciated

2 x 1 mile walks
1&1/2 hours at the gym
Diary
What a horrible start to a very busy day set out for a walk first thing only for the heavens to open up get completely drenched and forced to cut the walk short at only 1 mile. ggrrrr
Got out a visited the grand kids etc and afterwards decided to try again with the walk, would you believe i only managed about 10 minutes and the heavens opened up again so called it a day drenched again for relatively nothing.
Decided to get to the gym after the boys got home from school, and after the complete disaster this morning i really done a good session on the weights starting with the big 3
squats, dead lifts, and bench press, then finished with sessions on the dumb bells and bar bells unlike this morning the session was a great success
With it being Monday i weighed myself and am pleased to say have lost another 2 lbs and 1/2 inch of my waist so well chuffed its nice to know i seem to be managing on my own so to speak, but to be honest i think if Alex was on my case i would have managed another couple of reps lol
Also a massive well done to Tina who also managed to lose 1&1/2 lbs and half inch of her waist, she is doing fantastic well done and keep it up. love you honey xxx
Thank you all once again Gaz

1&1/2 hours at CV34 self defence + course
Diary
Up and about early this morning and after breakfast a trip back to CV34 for the first in another 6 week course with Louis Thompson, was great to see some new and some not so new faces, was good to chat with Alex and Louis havent seen then in 3 weeks or so always good to catch up and was nice that they both commented on the photo,s and both also could see i was still loosing weight so that's good a real confidence booster.
The session its self was a good one with my favourite, pad work and restrictive punching its great after being restricted to eventually get back to no restrictions and feel the extra power you can make for yourself.
Had my grandsons christening this afternoon running through till 9.00 o'clock hence the late blog, it did mess with the food diary but think i coped quite well had 1 roll with some salad and a handful of nuts so when you consider what was on the menu i done good, was also driving so was not tempted to drink any alcohol, i am one of them people that would rather have none than try and stick to a couple.
Always nice to have loads of friends and family around you and was nice to have loads of people notice the drop in weight, was the centre of attention for a while lol
Sorry its late thanks for reading cheers Gaz

Exercise Diary

Diary
Late start again this morning, thought i would hibernate, could hear the rain lashing down so i just put my head back under the quilt waiting for it to stop.
Refereed the boys playing on the wii for an hour then took a trip down the gym, left Tina to get on with it lol, well she is better than me at that!
Concentrated on planks, sit ups, push ups, dead lifts and squats at the gym.
Spent nearly all afternoon on paperwork so didn't get out for my walk, got to be done though and hoping it will all be worth the stress in the end (fingers crossed), stress levels at the minute on a scale of 1-10 are reaching 9! lol
Off over to Studio CV34 tomorrow for the first of Louis next 6 week self defense + course early tomorrow morning, looking forward to it and meeting the new clients.
It will be the first time I've seen Alex since the end of the 12 week plan, so hoping he will be pleased with my continued work and see a difference.
Thanks for reading and your continued support please feel free to say your bit

Food Diary
10.00 am 2 weetabix and banana
12.00 am 2 scrambled egg on wholemeal toast
2.00 pm pineapple and an orange
4.00 pm 2 ryvita with peanut butter
6.00 pm handful of rice and chicken curry
8.00 pm handful of mixed Brazil and wall nuts
Exercise Diary
4 mile walk
Diary
Really out of sorts today, not a good start, didn't want to get up, feel rubbish and ache all over. Could have quite easily gone back to bed and stayed there. Not exactly great company i could fall out with my own shadow lol.
Forced myself to go on a walk not sure whether it is because the weather is milder but sweating is an understatement, could wring my clothes out when i got back, still sweating 2 hours later when i was changed into my what should have been dry clothes.
Planned to go to the gym this evening but in all honesty can barely move took some more pain killers and had a quiet afternoon. In my head i am trying to work out why i am in so much pain today, may have overdone it yesterday, my ego got the better of me saw people smaller than me lifting heavier weights so upped my usual 70 kg to 110kg, perhaps not the wisest move lol.
Although the pictures are up and plan officially ended may keep up the blog over next few days or more lots going on in my life at the minute and writing the blog is quite therapeutic keeps things in perspective (well sometimes lol), i shall post to my facebook page as and when i update blog, thanks all for reading GAZ

9.30am 2 weetabix with sliced strawberries
12.00pm banana
1.30pm 2 scrambled eggs + 1 white
3.30pm banana and a plum
5.30pm protein shake and a plum
7.30pm roast chicken with a handful of pasta and sweetcorn
Exercise Diary
40 minutes on the cross trainer
1&1/2 hours at the gym
Diary
What have we done to deserve this horrid weather, half term with bored children is no good at all, had to go to the hospital and with the mad traffic and appointments running late it was 3 hours wasted. rant over but come on, lol
managed to stay on the cross trainer for 40 minutes and really got a good sweat on to the point it was dripping on to the carpet and had to get the kids to put a towel down to soak it up eeer.
Tina had to work later today so never got to the gym till early evening, its so much more hard work at this time of day as its rammed and you have to dive in when you can, on the plus side everyone is really helpful and will assist with spotting you while doing the heavier weights and also urge you or push you to do that little bit extra a bit like having Alex over your shoulder lol.
with the gym being so busy i got to go on some more new machines its amazing what some of them do, think i might ache tomorrow in places i shouldn't i found myself in some very precarious positions lol no wonder there not used as often as some of the others.
No news on photo's yet today but if they come through later on i will put them up
Cheers Gaz

Early gym session today as i had another busy day ahead of me and Tina had to attend meetings in the afternoon
Had a good session on the weights starting with bench press and some various other chest exercises then some dumb bell work for the shoulders and arms etc the session flew by and was time to get home before i could blink.
managed to do a 4 mile walk early evening, hadn't done a 4 miler in a few days and really felt it, did not beat the lap record but was on a par and was drenched on completion so was very pleased.
Will be glad to see the end of this dour weather, you cant plan anything and when you have younger ones that are bored at being house bound it gets you down roll on the great British summer lol can't come soon enough for me.
Thanks all see you tomorrow Gaz

Busy day with one thing and another and the kids off school for a week so not as much free time on my hands to do as i would like lol
Went visiting over Leicester way so no time for my walk this morning, it was a really lousy day weather wise so was not to fussed about missing my walk although as the day went on i did feel guilty as i had eaten a good dinner and couldn't get any exercises done.
Did manage to get to the gym early evening so decided to make it a cardio session, i went on the rowing machine as the gym was really packed out, would you believe it i managed a whole hour without stopping once, i was well chuffed and think this would have burnt off any excess calories.
I then had half an hour more doing sit ups press ups and planks and was drenched by the finish, so well pleased and think i made up for the walk that never was.
Had a chat with Alex earlier and the photo's should be up on Wednesday so not long left now hopefully
Thanks again for your patience its very much appreciated Gaz
